The topic of how to market the community of Holiday Island, support the endeavors of the business community and include the surrounding areas has been discussed several times over the past six months.
On February 25, 2011, the board held a special meeting to discuss just this topic.
The District Manager Kevin Crosson reminded the board that there was only a budgeted line item of $20,000 for the year 2011.
A presentation was provided by the Holiday Island Chamber of Commerce and the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce.
The board approved placing a full- page ad in the Eureka Springs Relocation Guide with a print deadline at the end of March. The cost for the ad space in the guide is $750.
The cost for the actual graphic layout of the ad was left to the district manager to obtain for the print publication production. This amount was unknown when the board approved the publication placement. The ad is underway and the exact cost is going to come in under $250
The relocation guide is in production currently and runs a print circulation of 5,000 copies per year for two consecutive years.
The board agreed that the district's web site needed an upgrade and will continue discussing the possibilities for this project.
The next work session for the Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District board will take place at the district office on Monday, March 21 at 9 a.m.
The agenda includes consideration of inventory lot sales incentive program, discussion of marketing and promotion, a final report from the deer advisory committee and a discussion regarding the driving range safety issue
