Are We There Yet?
There are some topics that just keep making their way to the HISID agenda for both work sessions and regular meetings. These questions and topics never develop to a conclusion. They just slip into the abyss never to be resolved.
A Chamber of Commerce
First there is a group that calls themselves a chamber.
When this group sends a representative to a Holiday Island Suburban Improvent District (HISID) Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting; it generally involves a request for monetary support.
The question to ask: Why is a local government involved with developing a Chamber of Commerce?
Over and beyond the marketing plans, the HISID budget includes payment for the chamber's 800 phone number and this phone line is answered by a HISID employee in the main HISID office during working hours.

Golf
Keep it private - Make it public - Back to private...
Revenue is down and some folks just think golf is everyone's sport.
This game called golf is only played by five percent of the property owners in Holiday Island yet, it carries a line item in the budget for approximately $300,000.
Skipping rocks is cheaper therapy and rather sporty too.
