The HISID board of commissioners (BOC) held their first work session of the new year on January 16, which was well attended by property owners and heads of departments at Holiday Island.
Replacing the roof at the Yacht Club (Yacht Club property lease) brought in only one bid in the amount of $8500 from Craftsman's out of Beaver, Ark.
Craftsman's bid includes a strip off and re-roofing. Department Head Kenny DeHart gave a briefing on the types of construction corrections that are included in the bid, which includes skylights. The shingles will be covered with a 30- year warranty and in addition the bidder is including a 3- year warranty on workmanship.
A list of questions and concerns were addressed including mold, beginning and ending timeframe for the project, how long the bid proposal stands and whether a building permit would be required.
DeHart explained the price is for now and Boyce Williams, acting district manager, replied that a permit is needed. The other questions are being looked into by DeHart.
This item regarding re-roofing the Yacht Club is on the regular meeting agenda for Monday, January 23, 2012.
The board has 42 applicants for the vacant position of district manager. There have been several executive sessions regarding the review by the board of these applications.
The board is also reviewing applications for the position of Waste Water Superintendent. This position must be filled by a candidate with a Class 4 certification.
The full time position of Department Head at the Recreation Center is still vacant.
Vice Chairman Ames found agreement amongst the board when signaling that it might be very wise at this time to conduct another financial audit. This type of action would be important information for a newly hired district manager.
The Barn is in need of a HVAC unit, which currently operates using propane.
Resolutions will be presented at the regular monthly meeting formally recognizing the work of past commissioners Kay Janky, John Dolce and Gary Hansen.
The official board meeting will take place on January 23 at the district office beginning at 9 a.m. Topics placed on the agenda include consideration and discussion of the following items:
- Fire Proof Record Storage Room
- Replacement of Yacht Club Roof
- Resolutions commending former commissioners
- Amendment #2 to Resolution 33 regarding donations
