Special Meetings at Holiday Island
When a special meeting is held by a government entity in the State of Arkansas; the press, under the State's FOIA, is entitled to request notification. When the press provides this request of notification, the open meeting law requires that notification be made two hours prior to the meeting and the purpose of the meeting is to be stated.
At the meeting itself, only the notified topic is to be discussed.
There are to be no amendments or additions to the agenda. It has been the practice of the Board of Commissioners (BOC) to call the question to amend the agenda.
January 13, 2012, a special meeting was called to discuss and approve a bid for replacing the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) on the main level of the golf course county club.
There were six RFP packages mailed. Only one bid package was returned. Island Airco submitted a bid of $32,745, which will include removal and disposal of replaced material.
The contract for work was approved unanimously by the board with all commissioners present. Work is scheduled to begin quickly and the expectation is that the work will be completed within 30 days.
The lower level of the club house will continue daily operations. Groups and events will not loose their scheduled areas.
