HISID Holds Nomination Meeting for Commissioners

Holiday Island, Ark. - The Holiday Island Suburban District (HISID) held a special meeting on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 6 p.m. in the District Office.

All current commissioners were present. With a full quorum, Pres. Ken Mills informed the public that if there were no nominees for the commissioner postions that would be coming open in 2010, then the remaining three commissioners would pick the two commissioners (Larsen, Dolce, Janky).

There are two vacancies coming open due to elected term requirements expiring. One position is a three- year- term and the other is for a one- year- term.

The nominee with the most votes will fill the longer-term open and the next nominee with the second highest votes will fill the one- year term.

Nominees and the nominators must be residents of Holiday Island, Ark.

There were four nominations:

Nominee Don Norman of Summit Dr. accepted the nomination from resident Pat McCarty of Hawk Lane.

Nominee Linda Griswold of Mission Hills Lane accepted the nomination from resident Ronald Griswold.

Nominee Pete Putnum of Holiday Island Dr. accepted the nomination from resident Vernon Anderson.

Nominee Ken Mills of Rocky Top Ln. accepted the nomination from resident Harley Barnum.

Voting

Early voting: November 10 – 30.

Absentee voting: Ballots must be received by 2 p.m. on December 2.

Local: Election Day voting is held on December 1, 2009 at the District Office from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
